Inspiration
We wanted to build a robot that lets us explore sensors, coding, and problem-solving in an interactive way!
What it does & How we built it
We programmed Flippy the Bot in the Arduino IDE using an Arduino Uno to read IR and color sensors, process data, and control motors to navigate a color-coded obstacle course autonomously.
Challenges we ran into
We faced challenges with the 3D-printed axle repeatedly failing, power limitations when a single battery couldn’t support all motors and sensors reliably, and in debugging our code to detect and trace the colors.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud that Flippy the Bot can move reliably and trace the colored lines, demonstrating successful integration of IR sensors, motor control, and decision-making.
What we learned
We learned how to build and program a functional robot by integrating hardware, sensors, and software.
What's next for Flippy
Next, we plan to incorporate arms so Flippy can pick up and move a box, expanding its interaction with the course!
