Inspiration

Accessibility is the focus of this project. Using the language of flowers we are giving those who struggle with verbal communication a tool for logging moods over time, specialised with features like a simple pictorial user interface, to give them access to tools they may have struggled to use before.

What it does

Adding to a template garden, the user is able to add a plant (whose meaning they attach themselves) to the flower beds and with time the beds grow to show the journey of the users mood over a month.

How we built it

The project was built using a very large whiteboard and unity.

Challenges we ran into

Despite the simplicity of the User interface, creating dynamic styling that creates a consistent style across our tiles by merging together pattern styles to create unique elements like corner tiles was more complicated than expected.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are glad to have had the time to focus on creating an inclusive, accessible app to help the people around us.

We've focused on mapping art properly, grid and tile-based images and considering how different users would adapt this program to fit their needs, such as colourblindness.

What we learned

We came into this with little knowledge of the unity tiling systems and now feel competent using the tool to create our app.

What's next for Flower Flow

We had additional features planned like allowing the user to enter their own plants into the game and dyslexia-friendly fonts.
