Fonoface is an app that helps seniors or people with eyesight or audition problems to call easily by using photos of the contacts and large numbers.

Inspiration 💡

Everything started when my grandmother, that lives far away from my home, struggled when using her new phone, and we couldn't communicate with her either because she can't see well and she couldn't answer us since the buttons were too small. So, I thought "How many people with difficulties would like to call and see their loved ones to talk with them more easily or notify if they are in an emergency?".

What it does ❓

Fonoface provides the users with a screen with all their favorite contacts with pictures, so the users can easily call by tapping the contacts' faces. Fonoface was conceived as a solution to the problem faced by many elderly people who find it difficult to use their phones. Fonoface also helps people who have audition problems by turning the volume up and speaking out the names of their contacts. For people with eyesight problems, Fonoface enlarges the pictures of their contacts when selecting them. Fonoface

How we built it 🔧 🔨

I built Fonoface using Flutter so that it can run on Android and iOS. Additionally, I used Php for the backend and connections to the server.

Challenges we ran into 🏃‍♂️

  1. Implement the option to call using WhatsApp, which made me implement a channel to native code to do so.
  2. Correcting the format of contacts' phone numbers since not all of them have the country code.
  3. Multilanguage feature.
  4. Creating an API to manage the sharing contacts process. ## Accomplishments that we're proud of 🏆 I wasn't accustomed to making the UI writing code, but with Flutter, I found it easy to do it. When I was younger, I thought that making a nice-looking app was difficult, but now I think that everything is possible! ## What we learned 🧠 I learned to develop apps using Flutter, which made me realize the infinite and amazing features that you can implement on your app easily. I also learned to build an API and connect my app to an online database.
    ## What's next for Fonoface ⏭ I would like to share my app with the world, so nobody feels lonely anymore.
