Inspiration
When we're eating at UNSW, and its peak lunch hour, it's always hard to gauge how long you have until your next tutorial/ lecture.
What it does
So we've devised a webapp that allows the tracking of the queue times of different restaurants in real time.
How we built it
We built this webapp using React and Vite. Coding in css, html, and tsx.
Challenges we ran into
We faced some challenges when it came to getting the data. Of course, it would be difficult to obtain the data of such restaurants as it may cause privacy issues if our webapp wasn't to be trusted. However, we were able to find an API that allowed the simulation of such orders from restaurants.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are quite proud of our front end work, as our website is adjustable for all different sizes of the browser, allowing for optimised viewing of waiting times.
What we learned
We've learned lots regarding CSS and html, and the resizing of the window, as well as the use of different APIs within our code.
What's next for Food Timer
If we're able to succeed with our product, hopefully, we can obtain the data to certain restaurants on campus, and actually put our webapp to work in real time.
