Inspiration
The problem: People usually lose money when converting currency because they may not know of better rates available by other financial competitors. Additionally it's is really annoying, inconvenient and sometimes different to be navigating through multiple banking websites to find the best rates. It is time consuming and by the end of the day people will settle for passable rates (but may not be the best). Hard earned funds and returns on your conversion may be lower.
What it does
With our system they will because our systems the convenience on comparing rates. An app that compares the foreign exchange rates of the major currencies from major financial institutions in Jamaica in one convenient place. Thus raising awareness of the citizen to make smarter choices and management and with their money, which in turn saving them a lot.
How we built it
Using MeteorJS.
Challenges we ran into
Getting the right packages and structuring our data to be as useful as possible. Obtaining information through web scraping was very arduous.
