Inspiration

Managing tasks can be a challenge for many, particularly those with ADHD, this process can feel overwhelming, making it hard to stay on top of everything. For us, this struggle was all too familiar. As students who live with ADHD, we often found traditional task management tools lacking. They didn’t offer the flexibility we needed to handle sudden changes, and they rarely broke down tasks into digestible, actionable steps, leaving us feeling overwhelmed and disorganized.

What it does

Our app is designed to break down complex projects into easy, manageable tasks, and automatically scheduling them into your calendar. Whether your plans shift unexpectedly or you need to focus on one step at a time.

Designed with the flexibility to rearrange and reschedule tasks easily, FoxList ensures you can adapt without missing a beat. Whether your day takes an unexpected turn or you’re feeling overwhelmed by a large project, our app provides clear, step-by-step guidance, making it easier to focus and stay on track.

We are building the tool we always needed, and we’re excited to share it with you.

How we built it

Our first step was creating a task list. This task list would be what we would build off of. We utilized react for the front end and used the next.js framework. Our team used Google's Gemini API to help break down user inputted tasks in our application.

Challenges we ran into

As our entire team were beginners and this being our first hackathon, we had to learn all the tech stacks we used from scratch. We struggled with setting up the project environment and making sure all proper packages were installed.

Another struggle we faced was implementing APIs. It was our first time working with an AI api and there was a learning curve for all of us. We spent a large amount of time figuring out how to connect the API to the front end elements.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As a team of beginners we had an ambitious vision to build a web application that could be useful for many others. Our project will extend beyond this hackathon.

What we learned

We learned that we should install dependencies/research tech stack BEFORE the hackathon so we could utilize all our time to build our project.

Task delegation is something we learned as well. Tasks should have been allocated/delegated as soon as possible.

Our quick ideation phase was a great move/great idea! Got to have a lot of time focusing on how to implement instead of theorizing.

Talking with the mentors was a big positive; sped up development by a lot and got great advice quickly.

What's next for FoxList

We believe FoxList has the potential to make task management easier and more accessible for many people, especially those who struggle with traditional planning tools. Our goal is to keep building and refining features that help users break down complex tasks, adapt to changing schedules, and stay focused on what matters most.

In the coming months, we plan to implement even more customization options, improve AI-driven task breakdowns, and enhance scheduling flexibility.

We’re excited about the future of FoxList and can’t wait to see how it can support others in their journey to better productivity.
