Gaslytics - Manipulation Detector (AI Mediator Software)

Inspiration

After an infuriating argument, I consulted AI why I felt on edge, frustrated, confused, and even more upset. This inspired us to build a platform that meditates these feelings.

What it does

This platform fills is the lack of accessible, objective tools to identify and understand manipulative behaviour in everyday conversations. Most people feel confusion or self-doubt after toxic arguments but don’t have the language, validation, or evidence to recognize emotional manipulation. Currently, there's no easy way to analyze arguments, flag red-flag behaviour, or receive support-especially for non-physical, psychological dynamics. This tool empowers users with insight, accountability, and emotional clarity.

Despite our varying experience levels, we were proud to contribute using our existing knowledge while also growing together-especially by learning new skills like leveraging AI as a powerful tool in a very fast past environment.

What we learned

Not only did we grow stronger as a team, but we also fully committed ourselves to exploring and understanding the TwelveLabs SDK in depth. Our new hackers on the team definitely experienced the challenges of a Hackathon, but most importantly the skillsets required and demands to become a full stack developer.

What's next for Gaslytics - Manipulation Detector (AI Mediator Software)

Next steps include fine-tuning the TwelveLabs prompt to more accurately detect manipulative behaviors by testing various phrasings, filtering noise, and validating results on real argument footage. Simultaneously, implementing a user profile system will allow users to log in, save past analyses, and customize settings for privacy and notifications. Finally, building a video highlight compiler will let users easily navigate emotional flashpoints in their conversation, with clickable timeline markers, categorized red flag icons, and auto-generated clips of key moments—creating a seamless, personalized experience from upload to insight.
