It is a one stop solution for all things Github, that houses tools along with a slick user dashboard and rich community leaderboard to monitor real time data of the user as well as their community.

Inspiration

The project started as a result of personal hassels, as well as seeing others developers searching the web for tools related to mintoring thier Github profiles as well as finding the correct community to grow without being privacy hindered. That is where our solution enters the scenery to help our fellow developers monitor thier growth while helping others find a good tool as thier rescue.

What it does

We allow all members to go through a short one time onboarding process, after which they are displayed a slick dashboard of thier VCS systems all at one place, as well as a link to the tools page where users can find a plethora of pre made tools related to these VCS which other developers submitted on the web.

How we built it

We built it using cutting edge technologies like React with MUI, Express for the Backend , Fastn for Documentation development, Mongo DB Atlas for a remote No-SQL Database and TinyMCE for certain self developed projects like the Forest Farmer Tool etc.. which give you a formatted github action yaml to draw a pattern into your contribution heatmap.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into several short run but challenging scenarios where our team had to wait even sometimes for about 45 mins, before a solution could be implemented. Sometimes we were stuck with the Github APIs also not to forget about the hassle we had to go through to implment oAuth 2.0 to improve security where AppWrite came as a solution to us and what Fastn did was not even capable of words, bea=cause how it helped us develop a documentation within a breeze was one hell of a speed!!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to announce that we have successfully been able to develop and deploy the entire apps alpha stage not just on web but on Android also as the App also went through a Flutter development stage and was successfully developed in it too.

What we learned

We learned to never ever give up on any such problem, because we never know when and where a solution can strike our mind and that can help us solve a critical problem, the case which happend with us last night when we came across the solution to our project bug while having our dinner.

What's next for GitBit

Its upto us to expand its horizons and make it a fit for all VCS platforms. We hope to build a community of great developers who help building a community that can provide tools to hellp other developers.
