inspiration
To make the GitHub beginner-friendly and also to find the top contributors as inspiration and contribute to the field of open source.
what it does
It helps us to organize the contributors on the basis of number of repositories and there is also an option for customizable filter.
how we built it
We used ReactJS to design the frontend, and we used Google and GitHub for sign up using auth0 for authentication and also worked with implementing of elastic search.
challenges we ran it
Understanding and implementing elastic search was really hard and challenging for the beginners like us. And initially we decided to built our own database but due to some shortage of time we had to used auth0 for sign up!
Accomplished that we are proud of
Although we could not complete the project in the given time frame we are proud that we defined the outline, finalized the design and tech stack we are going to implement in to build this project.
what we learned
We learned to work with Figma, ReactJS and elastic search and most importantly due to this hackathon we could network with people and formed a group of 4 complete strangers, worked and learned together.
what's next for GitHub Explorer
Completing the implementation of elastic search and also add a feature for the filter.
