Inspiration

In today's fast-paced world, ensuring that our children receive the right nutrition and care can be challenging. As parents, we often struggle to find reliable sources for healthy food options and accurate nutritional information. This inspired us to create an innovative solution that leverages AI to simplify this process, providing parents with peace of mind and helping children lead healthier lives.

What it does

  • Tracking Children's Growth: The app monitors and tracks the growth and development of children, offering insights into their health and nutritional needs over time.
  • Generate Healthy Food Recipes: Through an AI-powered chat feature, the app generates personalized, nutritious recipes based on the specific dietary needs and preferences of the user.
  • Generate Nutrition Facts Based on Picture Taken/Uploaded: By analyzing photos of food, the app provides detailed nutritional information, ensuring that parents are aware of what their children are consuming.

How we built it

We built this web-app using the help of Gemini AI. We fine tune the model so it suits our apps and provide more accurate result. On the tech side, we use ReactJs for the front-end and then combined it with Golang for the backend. We choose Golang for its fast and simplicity characteristic.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was ensuring the accuracy of the nutritional analysis from food photos. We had to fine-tune our image recognition algorithms and continuously expand our food database. Additionally, creating a user-friendly interface that appeals to both tech-savvy and non-tech-savvy parents was a significant challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of successfully integrating advanced AI technology into an intuitive app that can positively impact children's health. Our app not only provides accurate nutritional information but also offers personalized recipe suggestions that cater to individual dietary needs. The feedback from our initial user testing has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the app's potential to become an essential tool for parents.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we learned the importance of user-centric design and the challenges of working with AI in real-world applications. We also gained insights into the complexities of nutritional science and how to effectively convey this information to users. The iterative feedback process with our users was invaluable in refining our features and improving the overall app experience.

What's next for GiziGram

We plan to collaborate with Integrated Healthcare Centers to expand the app's reach and enhance its capabilities. By partnering with healthcare professionals, we aim to provide even more accurate health assessments and personalized advice. Additionally, we are looking to incorporate features such as meal planning, allergy detection, and integration with wearable health devices to offer a comprehensive health management solution for families.
