Inspired by Prof. Li Min's talk in the beginning of the Hackathon, we decided to do our project on stroke symptoms identification and awareness. We first considered building an app for adults about identifying stroke symptoms, but we thought that if a person is having a stroke he or she will not be able to use the app. Furthermore, apps and smartphones are common among the middle and upper class, but not the lower class, who comprise most of the people lacking information on strokes. Thus, we decided to make a website so it is more accessible and has a similar effect. Thinking about our audience, we started brainstorming and concluded that apps and computer programs are usually used by young people and children, who do not present such a high stroke risk, opposed to elderly people. Between young adults and children, we thought that children would be a better target audience. They are more curious, pay closer attention to details and live with their parents and may be taken care by their grandparents, who pose a higher risk to having a stroke. Based on that we started working on ideas that would be appealing to children and decided to run an awareness campaign, so children would be able to react in case someone next to them has a stroke and would pay more attention to their health in general. We decided to tell an interactive story to children, in which they are doctors for one day and get the chance to diagnose a patient who is having a stroke, learn more about strokes and look for hospitals close to them, in case of emergencies. This would shape future generations and would lower the accidents of strokes and their side-effects.
