Inspiration

Our team was inspired to create this app as we think that several people in our community want to volunteer but have no incentive to actually search for these opportunities.

What it does

Our application allows users to choose a cause that they are passionate about and then we give various opportunities for volunteering based on their zip code.

How I built it

We designed a basic HTML/CSS website and then we added a Javascript user interface portion.

Challenges I ran into

We are beginner programmers and the initial start to this was frustrating but with the help of google and the mentors, we learned so much and are eager to learn more. One specific challenge we faced was incorporating the mapquest developer API into our code.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are super proud of incorporating the API and using javascript for the first time!

What's next for Go-Getters

We would like to upload this website to the cloud in order to make more user-friendly, but in addition to this, our application only allows users to get opportunities in our zip code that is 02459. The big future we for this is to add in a feature in which users can easily post events that they are organizing and share them with the world. We believe that this will create a community-driven approach for volunteering and this will make our society a much better place.
