Inspiration
People are social animals, and many prefer studying in groups. It's often difficult however to break the ice and get a study group going when you're new, and this app aims to take care of that.
What it does
Go.study matches users wanting to study in groups based on whether or not they want to study a specific class with someone that is also taking that class, or just find a study group in general.
How we built it
We used Android Studio to build it and used Google's infrastructure called Firebase for our server hosting.
Challenges we ran into
We ran in a time limit challenge towards the end of the competition. Throughout the hackathon we also had many moments where taming the beast that is Android Studio proved to be quite difficult.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The application that we created looks very professional and it is our biggest applications ever made.
What we learned
Never take too much time on something that is not a core feature. We wasted a lot of time on some less significant parts.
What's next for go.study
The next step for go.study is to fully implement all the features discussed, as due to time constraints barely half of what was planned ended in the application. Such features include scheduling study sessions, having access to tutors available on the spot, uploading files and pictures, and having more complex group search queries.
