Inspiration
We feel bad when not at home with our dog for many hours.
What it does
It allows us to take a coffee break and play with our dog in the mean time, giving him treats through a cognitively challenging dog food container.
How I built it
Using leap motion and an arduino controlling servos. The virtual space (unity + leap motion) allows access to control the physical space, now over serial but easily using the internet with a photon.
Challenges I ran into
Reading and interpreting serial data on the arduino. That proved challenging. Also, finding technology that would allow us to spin the bottles fast, steppers where an option but not for this timeframe and with the types of steppers available.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
The mapping between the leap motion + unity 3d space and the bottles is actually quite nice to experience.
What I learned
How steppers work, integration of leap motion into unity and that hackathons does not have to make sense.
What's next for GoneGuilt
We are going to buy servos and actually use it in our home, if all goes well - if only for one occasion
