Inspiration
We love having people at our house.
What it does
When you come to our house, you can create your very own pet Goober. Each time you return, you can check in on your goober and see the adventures they got up to.
How we built it
The project is built on 3 main pillars, two microcontrollers and a web server. One microcontroller is connected to the fingerprint scanner which is in charge of identification, and the second is connected to the screen and show information. The webserver acts as both the database and intermediary between the hardware components.
Challenges we ran into
Our main challenges came from working with hardware with little documentation. Trial and error was a big part of the process. Our second main challenge came in the form of containerizing our application in order to deploy it on a server.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that all 3 of our central components were able to be build fully from scratch, including both hardware and software components. And are all able to communicate and work with each other.
What we learned
The skill we were able hone the most over the course of this hackathon was to be able to tackle the never ending challenges we faced and use our engineering knowledge to design and find new solutions to those problems.
What's next for Goobers
We hope to be able to fully implement it for our own homes.
