Inspiration
The inspiration behind building "Good Respond" was from a desire to address a critical but consequential part of emergency communication. Witnessing the challenges people face during emergencies, where traditional methods may be impractical or insufficient, we wanted to create a solution that is not just functional but also user-friendly and accessible.
The motivation was to also close the gap by introducing an app that prioritizes speedy and efficient communication methods, that strays from traditional ways such as texting emergency services directly.
What it does
Our emergency services app revolutionizes how individuals receive emergency assistance, From profile management to health issue tracking, live chat with an AI assistant, and the innovative ability to text emergency services directly, our app not only adapts to the evolving needs of emergency communication but also enhances efficiency and accessibility.
How we built it
Our application was created as a web app, employing HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and utilizing tools like Vite for efficiency. Additionally, we've laid out comprehensive design blueprints for an upcoming mobile app iteration, ensuring accessibility across various platforms for enhanced user convenience.
Challenges we ran into
- Time Management - attempting to create comprehensive designs before actually starting to build our product
- Dealing with video editing software
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We each explored new technologies and software's unfamiliar to us, we held different roles and managed to successfully collaborate without many major hurdles
What we learned
- How to work as a team
- About client server model
- Using Design applications - Figma, AdobeXD
- How to test APIs using Postman
What's next for Good Respond
After creating a prototype of our Text Emergency Service, the next steps involve thorough testing, refinement, and scaling. Through internal and external testing, we'll gather feedback to address any bugs or usability issues and enhance user experience. It's crucial to ensure compliance with security and privacy regulations, especially when handling sensitive personal information. We will also consider launching a pilot program to test our service in a real-world setting, gathering further feedback before a full-scale rollout. We'd then explore partnerships with emergency services and healthcare providers to integrate our service into existing systems, and develop a marketing strategy to raise awareness. Once validated, we will scale up operations while continuously gathering feedback for further improvement, ensuring our Text Emergency Service effectively assists individuals in dangerous situations.
