Inspiration
1 out of 5 Canadian university and college students struggle with mental health. So many more don't seek help because they don't deem their own issues worthy enough.
What it does
Being in a similar position, I created a messenger that keeps track of your daily mental health and also responds to users in crisis situations by notifying emergency contacts. Users can visit their dashboard to see their progress.
How I built it
Using the fb-bot-framework, nodejs, express, Sequelizejs, and messagebird api from stdlib, I created the bot and dashboard.
Challenges I ran into
Time was a huge crunch - so most of my intended work with stdlib is left as proof of concept. I also wanted to integrate slack as an additional bot, and have a more detailed dashboard.
What's next for Good2Chat(bot)
Improved chatting, NLP, actually emergency response, counselling service booking, you name it. I intend on taking this project to production.
