The Problem
There is so much information about nutrition, different diets, "magical" things like powders that are sold to fulfill the dream of the perfect desired body for people. Long story short: Those things don't work for the majority of people.
How we change this
grapes is an app that simplifies nutrition for everyone. It helps to focus on the parts of nutrition that have a noticeable impact on gaining or loosing weight and improving health and satisfaction. We created designs and tools that support consciousness to actively create the right nutrition for yourself day by day.
How I built it
Stefanie built the system conceptually within the last 1,5 years and now we made the first part of it visual with figma, invision and wrote the code with React and Native within the last day.
Challenges I ran into
The system is kind of complex and it is difficult to translate such as complex topic into visuals and make it pretty, fun and enjoyable to use as a daily tool.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Great teamwork with very talented people of whom each is a genius in his/her own area. The team is efficient, effective, fun and I'm most proud of that. And of course I'm proud of the results that have come to reality because of this good mix of talents in my team.
What I learned
You can accomplish a lot in 24 hours if you're working and communicating well with people who share your vision. I also noticed that I'm very happy that each of my team members slept during the 24 hours. Since "grapes" is all about balance I'm proud that we're implementing the principle of balance in our work even at a Hackaton. This way I guess we can keep up with good work not only for the Hackaton but long term!
What's next for grapes
Develop a whole functioning app to sell on Android and App Store. Combine the principles of "grapes" with practicing nutritionists and creating some selling strategies with my product management team.
It also would be great to do some medical testings with people who suffer from eating disorders at Charite and see how eating therapy could benefit from "grapes" as a creative and simplifiying eating system. It could support some studies of the "cognitive remediation therapy" and expand this studies to the field of nutrition.
