Inspiration

We wanted to give people more incentive to do their part in saving the environment. With this app, we reward users for making environmentally friendly purchases with exclusive discounts and cash back.

What it does

Getting points for rewards is easy! Simply use the app to scan your receipt after making your purchase. Our software will automatically scan your purchases and give rewards points for environmentally friendly purchases

How I built it

We build the front end using react-native and graphql, and the back end using c#, postgreSQL, running on google cloud.

Challenges I ran into

Coming into this project, our teammembers had little experience with the technologies used in this app, and had to learn it while building.

We built a working app! =)

What I learned

We learned to use new technologies and create an app at the sacrifice of sleep

I was part of developing the front end. The main feature of the front end (app) that I created was the camera component. This was my first time using react-native and running app using expo. Also helped to figure out how to use graphql.

Zhongyi Chen
I created the optical character recognition algorithm for parsing receipts, which was then built into an API. It was the first time I had to use this technology (Tesseract) and it was interesting integrating Python with C#.

Implemented database and created mock data

Shuke Pang
I developed the GraphQL API endpoint, as well as the entity Framework connection with a Gcloud Postgresql server. Ran Migrations with the correct schema.

Emilio Vázquez
I established the overall tab navigation with react native. I have also created some of the feature in the frontend, including the overview and profile. Last, i figured out the api communication with the backend.

Ka Tam
Wrote the queries for the project. I did it in graphQl and C# which I had no prior experience with but prior knowledge of Java and sql helped a lot.
