Driven by the urgent need for businesses to track and improve their environmental impact, and our team are tired of seeing companies give green promises but no transparent numbers.
What it does
GreenTag empowers businesses with actionable sustainability insights. It turns product tag images into structured data, scores their environmental impact, and optimizes item routing (donate, resell, recycle) for a greener, more profitable future.
How we built it
We leveraged a robust tech stack: Gemini AI for OCR and data analysis, a Flask API for backend logic, Google Cloud Firestore for scalable data storage, and a React/Next.js frontend with D3.js for interactive visualizations, styled with Tailwind CSS.
Challenges we ran into
Scaling the AI to recognize different labels and improving latency times. We were also able to resolve the issue of getting the right styling and format for every component we created
