Inspiration
We were inspired by the astonishing amount of violence against women. As women, we shouldn't sit back and not do anything about it, so we created a platform for people to seek comfort from such events (to help their mental health improve).
What it does
ELYSIUM allows users to write about their experience. Although many women and nonbinary people don't feel like talking about it, ELYSIUM offers a place for people to let out their emotions and distress so they don't bottle up their emotions.
How we built it
At first, we started with a design of what we wanted to code using Figma. Next, we started coding with HTML/CSS and Javascript, finishing off with PHP and mySQL.
Challenges we ran into
The coding website we were using kept crashing and messing up our code, so we had to switch to VS Code. Another challenge was the timezone difference our team had, but we managed to work well.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of building it.
What we learned
We learned to use JS and PHP. We also learned how to operate on the Qoom platform.
What's next for ELYSIUM
We hope to bring all genders to ELYSIUM, as trauma cannot be limited to specific genders. We also want to add other features. We would like to have a better gender authentication system, be able to filter out hate comments, and add the search and filter features to the post thread like it in in our design.
