Aranduka

Inspiration

While I studied college in the US, I was born and raised in Paraguay, South America, a third world country. My aspirations are to always give back to my country, and having a deep interest in blockchain technologies and everything fintech related, I knew I had a chance here. It's all about digitalizing a lot of the tasks that we do day to day, and one of its biggest advantages is the efficiency that it brings, so Digital Identity really is a major field that I would like to explore more and accomplish wonders in it.

What it does

Like a digital passport, Aranduka leverages the XRP Ledger to bring digital identity to the blockchain, essentially making it secure, private, and decentralized. The idea is for Aranduka to serve as the main one-stop solution for a digital identity management platform, and hopefully serve as the base for an integration with CBDCs.

How we built it

The main technical foundation of Aranduka is the XRPL, which is leveraged for its powerful tools that allow a platform such as that to exist. The XRPL will be used to prove the effectiveness of a DDI solution using blockchain technologies, while the platform itself will be built using mainstream frameworks like React.js, Node.js and Google's Firebase for the online platform, and React Native for the mobile implementation.

Challenges we ran into

Developing using distributed ledger technologies are not as smooth or easy as developing using other mainstream tools are, these blockchain tools are still in their very early phase of maturity. I did have experience working with the XRPL during College so I was able to test how I would make this work within the ledger, I know there are multiple other ways to do it but not through the XRPL.

Main challenge was proving how I would implement my features of a DDI solution using the XRPL, such as unique identifications, smart-contracting, and secure authentication protocols. I needed to find a way to make it effective and cheap using the ledger's tools.

What's next for Aranduka

Finish the front-end for the platform and create a beta for the mobile app, and of course, start testing it, make people use it. Teach the community the importance about digital identity and what it can offer.
