GUIDED is an app that helps users who want to break into tech by taking a quiz to narrow down a best matches! Users will also see average salary, job prospects, resources, etc.. for that career path.

Inspiration

I am a current college student majoring in computer science and I am not exposed with various tech career paths. Since the CS degree is flexible, it makes it harder for me to choose what I would want to do. I am sure I am not the only person who is not familiar with a significant amount of tech roles, I thought this app would be useful for students or others who want to break into tech.

What it does

Guided is an app that allows first time users to take a quiz that would narrow down potential career paths that they would be interested in. The users would be able to have their best suited matches on their dashboard and they would be able to get informed as much as possible on multiple paths suggested for them. This would save a lot of time and confusion for people as this would be a personalized report for them.

How we built it

I designed how it would probably look like on Figma and prototyped it as well to get a better idea when coding it. I used Flutter to create the app and connected it with Android Studio to get the app working on the phone. Also, I used Firebase to login and sign up in the app.

Challenges we ran into

This was my first time creating an app so it took me a long time to get used to moving things around on the Flutter and the installations to create the project overwhelmed me a bit.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud that I stepped out of my comfort zone and experimented with new technologies to create something helpful.

What we learned

I learned how to get by coding in Dart, it was difficult, however; I was able to make what I had in mind possible.

What's next for Guided

Future implementations for guided would be to have a search bar so that users would be able to see other career paths and not just the ones suggested for them. I would also want Guided to have more resources for the career path and statistics for job prospects which would be very helpful for users.
