Inspiration
We were facing the problem of having to run around from class to class to communicate with fellow attendees of Hack the Ridge, and we wanted to make this process more efficient and keep our team productive at the same time.
What it does
It allows attendees of Hack the Ridge to communicate with each other securely and privately without disrupting the flow of ideas in their designated workspaces.
How we built it
We built it using the Angular framework, JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, and HTML. We also remotely hosted the central server on Kevin's computer, letting attendees communicate with each other.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into backend issues with Angular, and we ran into problems with the retro GUI.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that the application works as we intended it to, and we are extremely pleased with the retro GUI that follows the theme of Hack the Ridge 2022.
What we learned
We learned how to build a website using HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. We also learned about the Angular framework.
What's next for Hack the Ridge Chat
We wish to add file sharing, private group chats, chat filters, and direct messages.
