HackCal

Inspiration

Picture this: a sea of colorful flyers, each vying for attention, and students frantically trying to remember event details or snap photos before the wind whisked the papers away. At that moment, we thought, "There's got to be a better way!" And thus, the idea for HackCal was born.

What it does

HackCal is like having a personal assistant or a second brain. Imagine pointing your phone at any flyer, poster, or even that crumpled napkin with hastily scribbled event details, and BOOM! The information magically appears in your calendar.

Building and Challenges

Building HackCal was awesome, but our journey wasn’t smooth sailing. Our journey wasn't all smooth sailing. We faced a veritable Hydra of challenges – every time we solved one problem, two more popped up in its place. Deciphering the pictures inputted and balancing speed and accuracy was definitely a challenge. In the end, we were able to build out a lot of the features we had ideated, but we will still work on fleshing out our app more!

Accomplishments and Lessons Learned

We learned a lot on this journey at HackGT. Through building our all in one personal management application, we learned about many different technologies, and with the awesome workshops and events we got to try on the Snapchat Spectacles. Overall, we were able to greatly expand on our website development capabilities.

What's next for HackCal

HackCal isn't just an app; it's a revolution in personal time management, bridging the gap between the analog world we live in and the digital future we're racing towards. We will continue to pursue our project with the Create-X program at Georgia Tech!
