Intro <3
Welcome to Halal Bytes, your trusted guide to discovering halal food options anywhere, anytime. Our mission is simple: to make halal dining accessible and convenient for everyone, whether you're exploring a new city, craving a specific cuisine, or looking for nearby halal-friendly restaurants.
We understand the importance of halal food for millions of people around the world. That's why we created Halal Bytes—a community-powered app that connects you to halal-certified restaurants, markets, and eateries. With a focus on transparency, ease, and reliability, we aim to simplify your search for halal food so you can focus on enjoying the experience.
Challenges We Faced:
We are first time hackathoners. This is also our first large project. Because of this, we didn't have the experience necessary to help us navigate things like API calls, Firebase Real Time Database, and using the two together. In the beginning, we faced a lot of challenges researching how to implement our vision without bugs and issues arising. It was at the point where we were feeling discouraged since it took us hours just to get the Maps API up and running. But our team pulled through and was able bring our vision to life (almost :P)
How we built it:
We focused on creating and Andorid app for the hackathon since we wanted to create something that can be used when we plan to deploy it. We used Firebase, Android Studio, Kotlin, Firebase, Google Maps API, Google Places API, and Figma
