Inspiration:
The inspiration came from Sci-Fi movies where the protagonist is able to control fire and dangerous elements using their hands.
What it does:
It gives the user the superpower to control fire and flames with their hands. It also gives the user a dramatic vibe of what it would look like to be someone with that kind of control.
How we built it:
I started by ideating what I would want as a normal human being. Touching fire with my bare hands without getting injured was among the top things that came to my mind. Hence I started by researching if any lens exists that already does what I have in mind and since I couldn't find any, I went ahead and started working on the scripts, the models, and the VFXs.
Challenges I ran into:
The first challenge was creating the Skull Model as well as the Flame Model. Since I'm not a pro at using Blender, I ran into the issue of importing those models from Blender to Lens Studio. Along with that, I tried looking for other skull and fire renders from external sources but I couldn't find what I exactly had envisioned.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of:
I'm specifically proud of ideating this project and the fact that I tried really hard to find something that resembles the "Fire in the hand" idea I had but I couldn't find anything even in the vast sea of so many talented creators.
What I learned:
I learned that if you give enough time and thought to anything, you will definitely get amazing results. Also that even if you're not the best at something, for example, I'm not very used to Blender and 3D renders, just this project has taught me as much as I wouldn't have learned even in 2 months. I believe this was mostly due to the deadline that I was given. Hence if you set a goal and a deadline in mind, you'll most certainly hit the bullseye!
What's next for Handskull:
This one is the first draft of Handskull and as I grow and learn more about renders, formats, and other details, I'm surely gonna either update this lens or create something on par or possibly even better than this one.
