Inspiration

We were inspired by the current pandemic to make mental health more accessible to everyone and ease the process of connecting and seeking help from doctors. According to NCRB data, in the past year, India lost more people to suicide than coronavirus. With Healin’ we aim to focus and cater to these dire needs with the best use of technology and innovation. We not only narrow down the scary gap between the patients and professionals but also make the entire process easier for both the stakeholders.

What it does

Timely treatment can prevent further complications. But with travelling restrictions, social distancing norms, and long stretches of lockdowns, meeting with doctors became arduous for needy ones. On the other hand, the fear of catching Covid made doctors lessen the number of physical appointments with patients.

To ensure a one-to-one connection between the doctors and patients while avoiding the above challenge, we have built an effective video call feature using Twilio . We also ease the barrier between languages by implementing real-time captions. During the course of interaction with patients, doctors can also keep digital notes on our website.

In order to store the data for progress tracking and future analysis , our website maintains a date-wise patient record with all details of that particular video call. Our video call feature in conjunction with symbl.ai integrates effective sentiment analysis using artificial intelligence that helps the doctor in better analysing the patient’s mental state.

At the end of the video call, a well-formed transcript helps for further reference and analysis of the conversation. Furthermore, the entire therapy session is boiled down to a time-saving summary using Symbl AI. It also maintain the patients past records according to date.

Past two years have been difficult and definitely uncertain. Hence, we came up with this self care for our users, a place to embrace uncertainty and it’s your survival guide for stressful days.

It begins with an important section, “why self care is important”. Our two main features include- random self-care activities generator, it helps us embrace the uncertainty, by suggesting a self care activity for us according to the time we want to spend and our preferred location.

Another main feature is “distress by doodle”. There is a random prompt which you have to follow for your doodle. There is also space at the bottom for you to reflect your thoughts.

How we built it

React.js, Material UI, Express.js, MongoDB, Node.js, Twilio API, Symbl.ai

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We came across various challenges as mentioned in the previous section but we tried to learn, explore and brainstorm to improve our project and best implement our ideas.

Providing a varied range of self care activity generators and integrating a doodle space with common paint features ensured that our project serves its goals effectively. We are proud of successfully executing a fully functional model and integrating twilio and symbl.ai, and hosting it online in 36 hours. We are most proud of addressing and solving such a crucial issue that is often brushed under the carpet.

What we learned

We learnt a lot about sentiment analysis, Api integration, better UI/UX skills and time management to successfully implement a working prototype within a short time constraint.

What's next for Healin

Healin’ is in its early stages as it was built within just 36 hours. However, the level of efficiency with which it serves its purpose is inspiring for us to continue improving it. We would upgrade our sentiment analysis Al using symbl.ai and implement an option to record the video call.
