Inspiration
The idea stems from ColorStack, enhanced with gamification to create a more engaging and collaborative environment for academic and career support.
What it does
Help Match connects helpers with seekers in real-time through customizable avatars, gamified interactions, and dedicated channels like coding, career prep, or general networking.
How we built it
We used Django for backend development, Django-allauth for authentication, and real-time functionality with WebSockets and Django Channels. The frontend was built with interactive game mechanics in mind.
Challenges we ran into
Setting up authentication with Django-allauth, and ensuring accurate synchronization during game play - handling users leaving and entering.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Achieving real-time functionality in game and chat, successful integration of Django-allauth for secure user authentication, and creating a unique gameplay experience for collaboration.
What we learned
We gained insights into real-time communication protocols, user experience design and creating engaging interfaces for collaborative platforms.
What's next for Help Match
Future plans include enhancing role-based matchmaking with machine learning, integrating a chatbot to help when real users are offline, refining the game interface, incorporating user feedback, and making the platform open source for ColorStack members to foster collaboration.
