Inspiration

We were inspired by quarantine to create an app that helps people who are high-risk COVID-19 patients or people who live with high-risk patients to be able to get their groceries without exposing themselves in high population stores and supermarkets.

What it does

The app allows users to post their grocery lists publicly, allowing neighbors and people who live close to them to pick up the groceries along with their own groceries, reducing the number of people in stores and supermarkets, therefore limiting the spread of the virus to some extent.

How I built it

We built a flutter application using the Dart language to create the app. Although the demonstration is on an Android device, the flutter codebase allows us to export the same app onto an iOS device with no code alterations

Challenges I ran into

We had several issues learning the language from scratch and with the visual formatting of the application, we were able to iron out most of the issues to make a functional app in time for submission.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We had very little time to learn the entirety of the dart language, so by strategically using youtube and reference code libraries, we learned only what we needed in order to make the app functional, eliminating unnecessary libraries and functions that were not crucial to, or used in our application.

What I learned

We learned pretty much all of the basic flutter and dart functions on our path to building this application. We also learned the inside and out of application formatting and the difficulty it actually takes to make an app look appealing and user friendly

What's next for Help2Shop

Create a user base, get companies to start adding their products to the catalogs so that users can add those products to their personal shopping lists.
