Inspiration
We decided to choose this project since it helps and makes it easy for a broad range of people to make their dream of homeownership come true.
What it does
Our intuitive website simplifies the path to homeownership. User can easily input their monthly income, existing debts (such as car payments ,credit card payments etc), credit score and so on. Our platform will swiftly determine their eligibility for a home loan. If the user doesn't meet the criteria , we provide them with suggestions and recommendations to improve their financial situation making this a one stop solution for all homebuying needs.
How we built it
We used React.js / Vite to built the frontend and Node.js / Express.js to build the backend. We populated a given dataset in MongoDB and used it to represent the graphs.
Challenges we ran into
We took some time to decide on what approach to go ahead with . Due to less time , we hadn't created separate branches to work on in git , which created merge conflicts that has to be resolved.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to create a decent web app with all the required functionalities in a short span of time which we are extremely proud of.
What we learned
We all learned about some basics of what factors are considered behind-the-scenes while getting approved to purchase a home. Homefit helped us understand architecting a system from scratch and connecting components between frontend and backend while integrating the database with both of them. Overall, everyone learned a decent amount about everything related to the tech stack used for Homefit.
What's next for HomeFit
Building some codebase for CI/CD pipelines and launching it into production environment to test it full functionality.
