Inspiration

As game-devs, we decided to make a really cool web-game, with a large amount of players, because we really love the tower defence genre, and also we didn't seen much large and cool projects on it. Hop would be a perfect way to showcase all the gameplay to spectators, while some really lucky players are literally playing the game on the eyes of others.

What it does

You can join the server (In case it has less then 20 players), and defend the crops. In the game, you have to keep all the crops from thee "hops" (rabbits) alive. You're given a simple gun and some ammo. You can shoot, reload, and move around arena to keep eyes on the hops. Hops come in 3 types: Normal, Tank and Fast.

Also, every wave they will be more and more hops. Their health/damage/speed is also slightly increases.

I guess, you can get some friends, and try survive some waves.

How we built it

We built it using our common game-dev knowledge. We arent experienced with js and web-dev at all, so we used common canvas implementations.

Challenges we ran into

The worst challenge was the one we gave to ourselves. We decided to make a really complicated project. We just can't control ourselves, so we very often keep making some huge, complicated mistakes.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We proud that we at least tried our first hackaton.

What we learned

Nothing much. Artist learned more about speed-drawing and animation. I personally learned some cool networking tricks and solution to my old problems (Movement sync).

What's next for HopHunt

We're individuals in the game-dev, and the game we made today, actually was our first inspiration to the game-dev itself. We're planning in the future to make a really similar game. On native platforms, with local-servers, and lots of cool/bloody mechanics (Epic).
