Inspiration
A lot of us will be going to college soon and will be moving, so this kind of tool would really help us mesh well in the new environment.
What it does
Show restaurants nearby that are sustainable and show a score on how sustainable they are along with their restaurant description from Google Maps. Furthermore, this application shows sustainable ways of commuting.
How we built it
We used Flask, Javascript, PeopleDataLabs API, Tilt.js, HTML, CSS, and Google Maps API to build this application.
Challenges we ran into
Google Maps API was a challenge because of the cluttered documentation making it hard to plot markers down along with grabbing the coordinates from PeopleDataLabs API and having to transfer it to the Google Maps API.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of successfully using Google Maps nearby search API and the PeopleDataLabs along with Flask because this was the first time using all of these technologies.
What we learned
We learned how to use Flask to send Python variables to JavaScript and how to use Google Maps API.
What's next for HydroClick
We hope to continue to work on this project and to expand this to include more sustainable products such as furniture options and their stores.
