Inspiration

We decided to build this web platform because we think that identity theft is a concern of many in these days.

What it does

iDTheft takes photos from your facebook account, analyzes them and does a reverse image search on the web to see if someone else is using your photos.

How we built it

We build idTheft using react.js, facebook graph api, axios, incandescent api, and microsoft computer vision.

Challenges we ran into

There was little documentation on the reverse image search apis that we found and the ones that were intuitive and easy to use were really expensive.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the lack of documentation we were able to do the reverse image search and show the results of the queries in our react.js app.

What we learned

The photos we upload in our social networks can be used by other people and be in different web pages.

What's next for ID Theft

Improve the time it takes to do the reverse image search and find a way to map the data found to help people reduce their risk of their identity being taken.
