Inspiration

The idea for ideaSpace started when we noticed the campus bulletin boards were cluttered, outdated, and hard to navigate. Important messages were buried, and finding study partners or local events felt harder than it should be. That led us to think — what if we could bring the community aspect of bulletin boards into a clean, digital space that actually connects students?

What it does

ideaSpace is a student-centered platform that helps people discover, share, and create campus events and collaborations. It includes interest-based recommendations, a live “Campus Pulse Map” showing active events nearby, and tools to make study groups, clubs, and collaborations easy to form.

How we built it

We initially use Stitch AI to get a concept together of how we wanted the app to look. Then we followed that up with splitting into a front-end team and back-end developer. Finally we integrated them together and used AI to help troubleshoot

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenges we faced were in the deployment phase of the app and the Gemini API integration for the Discover feature. These problems proved to be difficult and time consuming but by the end, they were solved.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Getting a working app created in 24 hours.

What we learned

We all learned a large amount about our respective development roles. We were new to both Front-end and Back-end development so we had to learn and create on a time-crunch.

What's next for ideaSpace

Next steps include implementing user and event verification, integrating with official OSU club systems through QR linking, and connecting with the library’s room-booking system to make event creation even smoother.
