Inspiration
College students have a problem with lost and found. With all those classes to worry about, why worry about posting to facebook, emailing the entire school, or running frantically around campus?
How it works
iFound streamlines the lost and found process by holding onto a database of found items that students can check at any time to see if their missing items can be found. Users can scroll through a newsfeed of recent finds, or search for their lost item using keywords. Items found by other users are easily uploaded into item profiles for browsing.
Challenges I ran into
We felt most challenged when it came to integrating the different languages and different parts of the web stack.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We're excited to have a functional product! We have learned a lot, had a lot of fun, and are happy to report that we all still like each other.
What I learned
Alison and Meredith are excited to finally know what a hackathon is all about! As a team, we learned to divide and conquer, to be flexible and work out of our comfort zones in new languages, and that it's always a good idea to start early.
What's next for IFound
We'd like to add automatic location tagging for found items, a feature converting live tweets into entries in our app, and email alerts for users looking for lost items.
