Inspiration

In general, I am interested in AI and want to make sure that Image Recognition serves it's purpose without issues.

How I built it

Challenges I ran into

Low quality "grainy" images, using an animated version to test, which was later solved by decreasing threshold

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Model worked to at least identify animated animals too! That was win-win!

What I learned

The importance of Image Recognition in AI. Labelling plays a pivotal role and we need to build more advanced models that can identify even if only some part of the image is shown.

What's next for Image Recognition using Custom Vision

Fixing issues mentioned above in "Challenges I ran into" and using more advanced and sophisticated models to get even more accurate results

I have an interest in Image Recognition and chose AI Spy giving it a little twist using Domesticated animals. Nowadays, I keep seeing posts about Missing Dogs or Cats and it hurts me a lot. Even though I’ve never raised any animals personally, but I did cater to a stray cat in my previous neighbourhood near Konkuk University Station, where I previously resided before the pandemic began. I named him “Annyeonghaseyo” which means “Hi” or “Are you well? Are you at peace?” in Korean. Many people know the term as “Hi” but it means “Are you well or at peace?”. I named “Annyeonghaseyo” because he would ALWAYS respond and come to me when I say that. I am quite courteous with everyone, humans and animals like dogs, cats, guinea pigs, etc, included. Therefore, when I first saw him while I was returning back from University. I saw him and waved Hi and that was the start. I would look at him and ask him, communicating with him like an innocent child. He was there whenever I walked by. I didn’t know if it was safe to feed him and asked an online expat community. They guided on what to do and what not to do. I bought food for him from a nearby convenience store with water. Water is essential! I fed him. He would come and purr, glide near my bell bottom jeans and that got my heart.
During the start of the pandemic, I moved to another area across the Han River from where I previously resided and I kept thinking about Annyeonghaseyo all the time. Who would be there for him? I had a feeling the neighbourhood people would take care of him, and that kind of gave me solace during the pandemic for 2 years.

I used all images of cats and dogs. I also used toon animals. The results were brilliant.
