Inspiration
Managing finances as a student is important, creating an app that would enable users to keep a track on expenditure and analyze spending patterns
What it does
The basic idea of the application is to allow users to take pictures of their receipts to record data about their purchase. This data is transferred to a database where it is analyzed to find patterns.
How I built it
Initially, we started this is an Android application, due to some compatibility issues we decided to first make a web app using python and later port it to iOS and Android
Challenges I ran into
Lost files after moving to Android Studio, had to restart
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Nothing significant so far, due to an incomplete app we were unable to achieve our task. However, we would be finishing this project in the coming days.
What I learned
To use Google API for image processing, the algorithm behind the image to text conversion
What's next for Imex
Create a functional app on Android, perform tests using various types of receipts. Create options to scan receipts sent via email as well.
