Inspiration
We wanted to be able to share images easily with our friends while stuck at home, so why not make a public server for hosting and sharing images? We were inspired by sites like pastebin.com
What it does
Imghost is a web server that hosts images for users to share anywhere around the world right from home, just by sharing a link. It also provides automatically generated image tags using Google Cloud's Vision AI.
How we built it
We built our project using React for the front end server, and Flask for the back end server. The servers are hosted on Google Cloud VMs. The images are stored on S3 drives.
Challenges we ran into
The whole project was a challenge overall. Notably however, after we all had done our individual works on different parts of the project, integrating all the parts together into one big system was a fun challenge!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're very proud to have this whole project set up and running publicly. As well, the Vision AI generated tags were a wonderful sight to see once they were working!
What we learned
We learned lots, as we're still students who are taking the courses required for this work right now. We were able to really apply our knowledge into this project, and gained a lot of experience, as well as had a lot of fun.
