Inspiration
Our inspiration came from a video by the renowned channel on YouTube 'Kurzgesagt'. That video had explained the functions of the immune system of the human body in detail, but in a concise manner. As COVID-19 hit the world, the immune system's beauty was truly shown and this sparked our interest into creating this game.
What it does
The game involves the player (cell) collecting and ingesting bacteria whilst being chased by the COVID-19 virus. The goal is to ingest as much bacterial matter as possible whilst being away from the virus.
How we built it
We used the Unity 2D engine and a large number of components for each game object to deal with physics and simulate the biological actions.
Challenges we ran into
The work was divided between our team and it was tricky to collaborate but we managed to overcome this through platforms such as GitHub.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The working model is very much viable and is genuinely entertaining, and this was a common understanding from the whole team.
What we learned
Advanced C#, Unity components and how they are interlinked, and some advanced concepts such as script linking which can be pivotal towards the future success of Immune.
What's next for Immune
More levels, cell types and possibly different pathogens too.
