Incento reimagines digital payments by digitizing the tactile, emotionally, and internationally grounded experience of spending physical money. While 85% of Gen Z and 82% of millennials prefer contactless payments, we asks: what if we could move away from the mindless convenience of modern digital payments like tap to pay, and bring back the tangible feeling of paying with your physical money for more mindful spending? Driven by the desire to reflect on the deliberateness that accompanies cash transactions, Incento integrates this ethos through a series of sensory (visual and sense) features, including personalized budget allocation via coin-dragging, realistic card selection that mimics wallet gestures, and a resistive hold-to-pay interface. Directional haptics, sound effects, and spatial animations like digital bills stacking or being handed off away from you all reinforce the weight, effort, and meaning behind a purchase. These elements work together to preserve the psychological pause before spending that encourages users to build healthier, more intentional financial habits without giving up the speed and efficiency of modern technology.
