Inspiration
Inclusive design is ensuring that all users can access digital products and services. The goal of compiling an interactive inclusive design guide was to help designers, developers and members of the product team understand how to build products that are accessible.
What it does
This macro tool for Confluence provides users with information in a guided format on how to integrate inclusive design practices into the product development process.
How we built it
This was built with Forge, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as the Confluence API.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge was deciding on the design of the content – would it be helpful to have the content in a list, a checklist, or a straightforward guide? After reflecting on these different formats, I chose a list so that it could be more interactive for users.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The most exciting accomplishment of this project has been integrating the information on the Confluence platform and seeing the early versions installed on a Confluence document. I am excited to continue improving the app after the hackathon is over because I believe in the mission of the app and want to help users build more inclusive products.
What we learned
Through this hackathon, I learned a lot about how Confluence and Forge are useful tools for builders and how Confluence plug-ins can provide further information on project management topics.
What's next for Inclusive Design Guide
I plan to launch the app on the Marketplace! There are still many more inclusive design practices to include in the guide, so I plan to expand the information in the guide as well.
