Inspiration
We knew coming into this hackathon we wanted to make a game, when we first heard the theme we immediately thought of Vampire Survivors so we decided to make a game in the genre, but changed how death works to help fit with the theme of Project Lazarus.
What it does
You play as Marcus and with your assortment of weapons (coffee, radio, pizza) you defend yourself from endless clones of Misha and Matty, collecting experience and upgrading skills along the way. We tried to add as many different abilities for both the player and enemies to maximise our options and increase the different ways you can play the game.
How we built it
We decided to use Godot, a game engine software, and its native language, GDScript. None of us had used it before so we helped each other and constantly bounced ideas and bugs between each other to try and deliver the best product we could.
Challenges we ran into
We got lost in the signals in Godot creating a lot of unneeded functions in our code. Additionally, none of us felt we were particularly artistically-inclined, so drawing sprites for the game from scratch would have been difficult. However, we took inspiration from another game, Nubby's Number Factory, and decided to go for a semi-realistic, almost surreal look for the graphics.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learning how to use the git workflow with multiple people. Learning Godot in such a short time and producing a good product.
What we learned
How to use the Godot editor well as utilising git for a larger scale team project.
What's next for InfiniMisha
We want to add more power ups and maybe some other weapons.
Built With
- gdscript
- git
