Inspiration

Reporting maintenance faults is a process that has not yet modernized. It generally involves calling a number, sending an email, or filling out some kind of form. What if there was a way to make it as simple as swiping your phone, selecting error types, and clicking send? Thanks to InstaFix, it can be!

What it does

It takes input from an nfc sensor into the application. The tag of the nfc sensor gives information on which room the user is in and what kind of faults are possible. The user then selects the relevant fault and sends the data into the system. The relevant maintenance man will receive a new fault on his application which uses the maintenance profile. When he finishes the task, he can swipe the nfc and mark the task as completed.

How we built it

We built this application in Android Studio using java.

Challenges we ran into

One particular challenge we ran into was that none of us had had much experience developing for android. Another challenge was that we did not have a designer on our team and doing the front end design was not as easy as it seems.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of our idea. It is very simple, yet has the possibility of being a great system for maintenance.

What we learned

We learned how to use nfc to create events, and how useful it can be. We also learned that design is something that is not to be taken too lightly.

What's next for InstaFix

  1. Completing the server, and setting up the server components.
  2. Polishing the design.
