Inspiration

AR is really interesting technology and we sought to use for a helpful purpose.

What it does

By using AR we can display instruction manuals in a more detailed manner. By displaying 3D objects as though they were in the real world, it makes manuals more accessible to clients. More information can be conveyed in 3D than in 2D.

How we built it

We wrapped an HTML/CSS/JS program around the 8th Wall API and used tinkercad to create every 3D model as an analog to a page in an instruction manual.

Challenges we ran into

Front-end design. CSS was tricky and it was our first time using it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We made the app look great. We'd only known each other less than a day prior to the hackathon and were able to make this project despite not knowing each other's skills at the beginning.

What we learned

We learned a lot about front-end design/web-development. For example creating visually appealing UI with vanilla CSS.

What's next for Instructar

Add default scaling for each product so that the client needs to rescale less often.
