InternTalk chatbot

We are team Happy to be here, as the name suggests, we are here to spread happiness and joy to everyone.

Inspiration

In light of the recent COVID-19 Pandemic, we felt that students and non tech-savvy were being left behind as the economy transited online. Often times, people are inundated with information from job searching portals, we want to match individuals with their dream company through something as simple as chatting. We built a telegram chatbot to ease these individuals without prior work experience into finding their first internship opportunity.

What we learned

We explored different methods of web scraping and data cleaning. By utilising telegram bot API, we built a functional chatbot from scratch.

How you build your project

we did online web scrapping and anaconda, we prepared a curated CSV file in which the telegram chatbot would draw upon to answer the queries of the individual seeking for internship opportunities.

How it works

It takes in what the users want and prints out internships opportunities that matches the individual's needs. (such as salary, city, time period, etc)(new features if we get more sponsorships)

Challenges you faced

Being thrown into a foreign environment where we had to learn new things from scratch. Typical coding struggles.

Looking forward

We would love to extend the capabilities of our chatbot to cater towards a greater target audience (such as employers and the elderly) and we hope to implement machine learning(dialogflow) once we get it to work.
