Inspiration
This project was inspired by the lack of knowledge about credit scores and the misconception and myths towards navigating the financial world, especially in the African American community.
What it does
This app game-ifies the process of either building, maintaining, or investing with your credit. It prevents the overwhelmed feeling that the user could receive if trying to build credit with the use of Youtube and other sites, by giving daily tasks to work towards that are more attainable.
How we built it
We used Figma to create a prototype that was clickable to show how the app would work. We also coded a portion of the app to notify the user of which days they want to be reminded to use the app.
Challenges we ran into
Some problems we ran into were figuring out which aspect of "financial literacy" we wanted to tackle. After settling on credit knowledge, we initially wanted to have this be course-style but we moved away from that because we thought it would lessen user engagement. Designing the user interface was a struggle, and created a 3 minute pitch that encompasses all that we worked on and considered was a challenege, Our last challenge was considering what age group to target.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the overall look of the app! It looks like an app that someone would use and we are proud to believe that a wide age range would enjoy our platform.
What we learned
We learned how to communicate as a team and finalize an idea. We also learned a little more about credit and credit score services that exist. We were able to debunk some myths about credit and we increased our coding knowledge and Figma usage.
What's next for INvestME
Next, INvestME plans to be an app that can potentially be found on the AppStore
