Inspiration
our inspiration were those hardworking farmers who did their work manually and got very little part of their hard earned money so in order to reduce their hard earned labour we made a smart monitoring system knowns as Irrigo.
What it does
We want to create a smart system that automatically controls water valves in a farm's irrigation network based on how dry or wet the soil is where the crops are growing. This system uses artificial intelligence to make sure the right amount of water is given to the crops through pipes and micro-irrigation, ensuring they get just the right amount of water they need. This helps in efficient and automated farming without needing constant manual adjustments.
Implementing this smart irrigation system makes good business sense. It can save farmers money by optimizing water usage, reducing waste, and potentially lowering water bills. It also increases crop yields and quality, leading to higher profits. Additionally, it reduces the need for manual labour to control irrigation, freeing up farmers for other tasks. Overall, it's a cost-effective and efficient solution for modern agriculture.
How we built it
ur innovative agricultural system integrates IoT, Machine Learning (ML), and an Android app to revolutionize crop cultivation. Here's a concise overview of its key components and functions:
Data Gathering: We employ various sensors, including those for soil moisture, pH levels, and climate data, to collect essential information for precision agriculture.
Machine Learning: Using ML techniques like Artificial Neural Networks and Regression, we train a model to understand the specific irrigation needs of different crops.
Automation with Solenoid Valve: Electromagnetic induction powers a solenoid valve, which the ML model controls. It opens when soil moisture falls below a predefined threshold, ensuring crops receive the right amount of water.
Weather Forecasting: Our system predicts local weather conditions by integrating weather APIs, enabling real-time adjustments to irrigation based on weather forecasts.
User-Friendly Android App: We provide an Android app for users to easily monitor crop progress, access weather forecasts, and receive alerts and recommendations.
Alerts and Notifications: SMS alerts via Twilio inform users about water usage and system faults, enhancing user experience.
Land Verification with Bhulek API: To verify land ownership, we plan to integrate the Bhulek API, ensuring system security and access control.
RFID for Device Management: RFID technology is used to manage devices and verify user identity, enhancing security and accountability.
In summary, our system offers a comprehensive, intelligent, and user-friendly solution for modern agriculture, optimizing irrigation, weather adaptation, and user engagement.
Challenges we ran into
Climate Change: Changes in weather patterns, extreme weather events, and unpredictable climate shifts can significantly impact crop yields and livestock production.
Pests and Diseases: Pests and diseases can decimate crops and livestock, leading to substantial financial losses for farmers.
Limited Access to Resources: Limited access to water, land, and other essential resources can constrain agricultural productivity, especially in areas with poor infrastructure and limited technology adoption.
Market Volatility: Fluctuating market prices, changing consumer preferences, and global trade policies can make it challenging for farmers to predict and plan for the future, leading to financial uncertainty.
Labor Shortages: In many regions, finding an adequate workforce for farm operations has become increasingly difficult, leading to higher labor costs and operational inefficiencies.
Rising Input Costs: The costs of inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, and machinery have been increasing, making it difficult for farmers to maintain profitability.

What's next for Irrigo
Our prospect is to work with ML model based on weather forecasting and lot of other stuff. We wiill also introduce some other sensors like npk and few others.
