Inspiration

We’re building this product to serve the vendors & traders in the Nigerian SME space, they face a series of problem while trying to sell their goods and services, and with iSELL, we plan to solve these problems, and hopefully expand it into other parts of Africa.

Some of the Problems vendors face in this part of the world is that there’s no centralized location where they can display all the goods and services they have available, using their social media accounts to trade and display goods isn’t scalable and comes with a lot of inconveniences, and using other third-party E-commerce platforms isn’t any better as they come with their own host of problems such as taking a huge percentage from their profits, and with these third-party platforms, there’s no guarantee that visitors would surely buy from your store rather than the hundreds of others there.

Vendors also have a lot of problems surrounding accepting payments, such as delays in payments and the inability to accept cross-border payments.

What it does

We built out an e-commerce platform that solves some of the problems above with these means;

Trading on iSELL: We provided a unique customizable store for each of our vendors on the iSELL platform, all vendors need to do is upload all the Items they have for sale and it will be shown in their unique iSELL vendor profiles. Any Customer that comes on iSELL can view what each vendor has for Sale and make a purchase.

Payments on iSELL: All payments on iSELL are made with “Rapyd Collect”, this makes it super fast and direct for customers to make a purchase with their payment cards. Our “Rapyd Checkout” integration guides customers through the whole payment process and makes it very straightforward for them. When each Vendor creates a store on iSELL, we create a unique “Rapyd Wallet“ that’s connected to their stores on iSELL, when a customer makes a purchase, the money is automatically sent to their wallets. This helps with the management of business funds when vendors have a dedicated wallet where all their business funds go into.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Getting each vendors to create a wallet from rapyd API : we ran into some code blocking and reference id that we had to randomize for a wallet to be created
  2. Uploading each vendors product

What's next for iSELL

This is just first version and we plan to build out the product and add new features, so the next step would be Conduct user research and find out more features we can build out for both vendors and customers Finetune the user flow of the MVP and work on the UI
