Inspiration

I've always loved party games and Jenga is actually one of my favourites. I think it's great that we can bring people together and share fun meaningful moments even when apart. I believe that's the power of AR.

What it does

"Jeng!" is an open to interpretations Party AR game. Whether you're willing to play it by sharing one device with a friend in your real space or keen to have some over the wire fun, "Jeng!" has you covered! Use your hand & index finger to poke holes into the tall colourful tower without making it crumble and beat your friends!

How we built it & Challenges we ran into

Unofortunately Jeng! was built in only 2 days. While I had a couple of fun ideas for this year's lensathon I wasn't able to fully realise them because of work schedule. Apart from that building a physics-based AR game with so many different physics bodies wasn't an easy task. First I tried setting all of them to unowned but the experience became incredibly choppy and unresponsive. After a couple of hours I found out that I can separate the physics bodies between the two online players. So each has to deal with their own physics "bricks" and the entire experience runs smoothly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As mentione above, I'm really proud of how smooth and responsive the experience is as of right now. I have a decent amount of experience with connected lenses and I believe that for only a portion of the time that we had for this lensathon I did a somewhat decent job. :)

What's next for Jeng!

I'd love to continue improving the project and possibly bring some customization options to it. I believe that customizations are the perfect excuse for monetization so I'm interested in checking how this can be done in the future. While customizations have been in my initial idea, the lack of time prevented me in experimenting with them.
